HAMPTON, Va. — A man was seriously injured during a shooting in Hampton Friday night, police said.
Hampton police said that dispatch received a call around 10:45 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 200 block of W. Kelly Avenue. Officers found a man suffering from a life-threatening injury.
Hampton Fire and Rescue took the man to the hospital for treatment.
Their investigation revealed the victim was shot in the 100 block of West Cummings Avenue near East Mercury Boulevard and walked to the 200 block of West Kelly Avenue.
Hampton Police updated on Monday that they have arrested 48-year-old Mario Barret of Hampton in connection with the shooting.
Barret is charged with one count of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a nonviolent felon and malicious discharge of a firearm within a dwelling.
