NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man accused of pointing a gun at another driver on a Virginia highway in September will be released from police custody on time served following an agreement with the Newport News commonwealth's attorney.
Under the agreement, 58-year-old Eugene Trujillo will have no contact with the victim, attend anger management classes and can't have a firearm while out on good behavior. The firearm used in the incident will remain in police custody.
His arrest came after a video recorded by Tishawna Banks on Sept. 10 showed a man pointing his gun at her while he was driving a red Chevrolet Camaro. Banks told 13News Now she was driving on I-64 East in Newport News when she merged ahead of Trujillo's vehicle, prompting the incident.
According to Banks, Trujillo then started brake-checking her through traffic.
Banks uploaded the pointed gun video to her Facebook account, which had been shared thousands of times across the platform.
In September, Trujillo was charged with brandishing a firearm, reckless driving, assault and reckless handling of a firearm. He pled no contest to the charges.
On Sept. 15, Virginia State Police (VSP) said Trujillo faced a second charge of brandishing a firearm for doing the same thing in Virginia Beach on the same day.
