NORFOLK, Va. — A man was sentenced to five years in prison for charges stemming from a deadly gun fight at a Norfolk barbershop in 2021, according to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
In a release on Friday, prosecutors said Fareed Luckett, 44, was sentenced for voluntary manslaughter and the use of a firearm charges.

The shooting broke out at Kappatal Cuts located on Brambleton Avenue in the afternoon hours of June 4, 2021. Surveillance video shows Calvin Durham Jr., 37, initiate a fistfight with Luckett and others inside the barber shop.
The two were separated and went outside to cool off before reentering the shop. A short time later, prosecutors allege Luckett jumped on Durham and began punching him. While in an apparent wrestling hold, the two men pulled guns on one another.
Luckett claims he took Durham's gun and used it to shoot him in self-defense.
Both men were brought to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment. Durham ultimately died from his injuries.
Luckett was arrested on June 9, 2021. He initially faced a second-degree murder charge, but a Norfolk jury in July 2023 found him guilty of a lesser-charge of manslaughter.
