Portsmouth police investigate suspicious death in Cradock area

The Portsmouth Police Department said the man hasn't been identified yet.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating after officers found a man dead inside a vacant home in the Cradock area of the city Thursday afternoon.

The investigation began around 1:20 p.m. when Portsmouth police responded to a residence near the corner of Prospect Parkway and Bainbridge Avenue for a report of a suspicious situation.

Police then located the man's body inside the residence in the 10 block of Prospect Parkway. The Portsmouth Police Department said the man hasn't been identified yet.

No other details about the incident were provided, but police said it is being investigated as a suspicious death.
