One man was shot and is fighting for his life in Hampton, while another was hurt by flying glass

Hampton Police officers found the men on Aberdeen Road just after 9 tonight. The shooting took place on Birch Avenue.

HAMPTON, Va. — A man was badly hurt in Hampton when he and another man were shot Tuesday night.

Hampton Police officers found the men on Aberdeen Road just after 9 Tuesday night. There was crime scene tape up at the Aberdeen Food Mart near Briarfield Road because that's where the men apparently drove to afterward.

A spokesperson said that the man who was shot had injuries they called 'life-threatening.' The other man in the car received injuries from flying glass. Both were taken to a local hospital.

The spokesperson said the shooting actually took place on Birch Avenue, over a mile away from where the men eventually ended up on Aberdeen Road.

Their investigation determined that the men were leaving some sort of gathering on Birch Ave. when an unknown suspect(s) began firing a gun. Besides the man who was shot, an unoccupied vehicle and a residence were also hit with gunfire.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving at that location.

The spokesperson said the motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
