NORFOLK, Va. — A 45-year-old man accused of threatening a credit union teller during a robbery was convicted in Norfolk Circuit Court on Friday, the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney said.
Ricky Johnson pleaded guilty to robbery by threat in the June 2 incident where he demanded an unspecified amount of cash from a Chartway Credit Union.
After entering the credit union, officials said Johnson passed a bank teller a note ordering them to hand over cash and threatening to shoot them if they did not do so. The teller complied, handing Johnson a bag full of cash and a tracker inside.
When Johnson was ultimately arrested, police said he was not armed.
Johnson is slated to be sentenced on Feb. 9, 2024.
