Man arrested on weapons charges in Franklin

The Franklin City Police Department and agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) executed a firearms search warrant on Wednesday.
The Suffolk Police Department are urging residents across Hampton Roads to secure their guns, even in their vehicles.

FRANKLIN, Va. — Detectives of the city of Franklin Police Department and agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) executed a firearms search warrant in the 300 block of Clay Street on Wednesday. 

According to authorities, they arrested Reginald Isiah Burney and recovered three handguns, one machine gun and magazines, as a result of that search warrant.

Bailey is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use or possession of a machine gun for aggressive purposes, and obstruction of justice. He is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

Authorities are now investigating how exactly Burney came into possession of the weapons recovered from the scene.
