GLOUCESTER, Va. — A person was arrested in Gloucester on Sunday after allegedly assaulting a child, police say.
Gloucester County deputies were dispatched to the 8100 block of Carrie Lane around 3:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a person becoming combative and assaulting a child.
Deputies arrived on the scene and attempted to detain the suspect, but a struggle ensued. The suspect grabbed a deputy and elbowed another deputy in the midsection. The suspect then threatened the deputies.
Deputies arrested the suspect and charged them with child neglect, public intoxication, obstruction of justice, and two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Gloucester County Sheriff's Office says there were no injuries that required emergency medical care.
