GLOUCESTER, Va. — On Sunday night just after 10 p.m., deputies from the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office were called to the 9600 block of Davenport Road for a domestic incident. At the scene, a victim was observed with injuries that required emergency medical transport, but they were treated and released from the hospital.
Deputies attempted to locate the suspect, Jammie Michael Lowney, who barricaded inside of a residence. Over the next two hours, a standoff ensued between Lowney and the police. Eventually, deputies entered the residence after obtaining an arrest warrant, where they found Lowney sitting in the dark in a recliner chair, refusing to follow commands.
When deputies went "hands on," police said, Lowney resisted, kicking a deputy. Lowney was then taken into custody, but transported to the hospital for "minor injuries" before being treated and released.
Lowney faces charges of assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice and assault and battery of a family member.
