Virginia Beach shooting leads to man's arrest, police say

Officers responded to Norfolk General Hospital on May 19 for a report of a man with a gunshot wound. The victim told police he had been shot on Hampshire Lane.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man has been charged in connection to a Virginia Beach shooting that happened in late May, police said.

The Virginia Beach Police Department says officers responded to Norfolk General Hospital on May 19 around 1:10 a.m. for a report of a man with a gunshot wound. The victim told police he had been shot in the 5700 block of Hampshire Lane off of Baker Road around midnight.

After investigating, detectives got a warrant on 58-year-old Mario Feather of Virginia Beach. He's charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharge of a firearm in a public place.

Feather was apprehended on Monday.
