Trial begins Tuesday for convicted killer Cola Beale, this time for Norfolk murder of cousin

Beale is accused of first-degree murder in connection to the 2022 death of his cousin. He was convicted in March for the murder of his girlfriend and father figure.

NORFOLK, Va. — The man convicted of killing his girlfriend and father figure in Virginia Beach will stand trial again. This time around, he's set to appear in Norfolk court on Tuesday.

Back in March, a Virginia Beach jury found Cola Beale IV guilty of killing Czavier Hill and Clifton Baxter.

In Norfolk, Beale is accused of first-degree murder in connection with the 2022 death of his cousin, Downing McLean. The trial for that case is expected to start Tuesday and last four days.

In a pre-trial court hearing on Friday, attorneys alerted the judge they'll likely need a larger pool of prospective jurors because of the media coverage surrounding Beale.

In previous jailhouse interviews with 13News Now, he admitted to killing Hill, Baxter, and McLean after he "snapped."
