NORFOLK, Va. — A jury convicted the third suspect in a deadly 2023 robbery on Thursday, the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said.

Cevan Pierce, 25, was found guilty of first-degree murder, murder by mob, robbery causing death and two firearm charges after a two-day trial this week.

Da'Shaun Robinson, 24, and TyJohn Brooks, 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in July and early September, respectively.

All three are set to be sentenced later this year.

The charges stem from the murder of 18-year-old Antonio Wilson outside of a Norfolk convenience store in April 2023.

Prosecutors say the three defendants encountered Wilson inside the Shop 'N Go at 711 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Surveillance video showed the men waiting outside for Wilson, confronting him with guns drawn and then shooting him to death when he reached toward his waistband, as if to draw his own firearm.

“Greed and malice led Cevan Pierce, Da’Shaun Robinson, and TyJohn Brooks to rob the victim and murder him in cold blood,” Commonwealth's Attorney Ramin Fatehi said in a press release after the guilty verdict.

“Thanks to the excellent work of the Norfolk Police Department and the availability of high-quality surveillance footage, we have held all three of these men accountable."

Prosecutors say Pierce and Brooks were already known to Norfolk police, due to their gang affiliations and prior encounters with law enforcement.

Brooks was arrested in South Carolina shortly after the murder. Pierce was arrested the next month after police chased him on I-64 through multiple cities.

Robinson was identified through DNA testing from a ski mask he was wearing at the time of the murder, which was later found through a search warrant in the car the defendants used the day of the shooting. He was arrested in September 2023.

"We are very sorry for the loss Mr. Wilson’s family has suffered and will continue to walk with them through this journey,” Fatehi added.
