Man accused of abuse and sexual assault charges in James City County arrested in Chesapeake

The assault happened on Richmond Road in Williamsburg on the morning of April 22, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — A man who was wanted on abduction and sexual assault charges in James City County was arrested in Chesapeake, police said.

The incident reportedly happened in the 6400 block of Richmond Road around 11 a.m. on April 22. On Wednesday, James City County police said they were searching for 21-year-old Nijhad "Jhad" Johnson of Norfolk in connection to the assault.

Authorities said he was arrested by police in Chesapeake the following day.  He is currently being held without bond on charges of sexual assault and abduction in the Chesapeake City Jail, although he is expected to be transferred to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
