Suspect in Jahari George slaying also facing charges in separate shooting that injured 4

The shooting happened early in the morning of August 18, weeks before NSU student Jahari George was gunned down.

NORFOLK, Va. — One of the men accused of killing a Norfolk State University student earlier this year is also facing charges in a separate shooting that injured four people.

The shooting happened early in the morning of August 18. Police were called to the 7-Eleven on East Brambleton Avenue for a report of a shooting, not far from NSU campus. Officers were then notified a short time later that three men and one woman had arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Following an investigation, 18-year-old Camari Warren, 19-year-old Keith Newby, and a 17-year-old boy were all charged with three counts of malicious wounding and three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Weeks after the shooting, 20-year-old Jahari George was shot to death on Gatehouse Road. Warren is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, for George's death. Two other men are also accused of the NSU student's murder.
