PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Two Portsmouth police officers were injured in a hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, the two officers were struck by a vehicle in the 4000 block of Missy Elliott Avenue, just after 2 a.m.
Both officers were injured, but one had more severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police say the driver of the suspect vehicle, Shaquilla Oneka Cuffee, fled the scene but was stopped by law enforcement on the interstate.
Cuffee was charged with a DUI and malicious injury to law enforcement officers.
Police are still investigating this incident.
