CAPRON, Va. — A high speed police chase on Saturday on Southampton Parkway ended in a crash, an airlift to Norfolk General Hospital and criminal charges.
Thierry Milien, 22, of Orlando, Florida was traveling 104 mph in a 60 mph zone near Capron, and ignored a deputy attempting to make a traffic stop. Spike strips were deployed to slow the vehicle, which were successful, but Milien kept driving, according to the Southampton County Sheriff's office.
Milien abruptly drove off the roadway and crashed into an unoccupied building, where deputies then requested EMS assistance. Milien was flown to Norfolk General Hospital as a "precautionary measure," the sheriff's office said.
Milien was charged with damage to property greater than $1,000, attempting to elude police, reckless driving by speed and erratic lane change. He was arrested in Norfolk on Saturday.
Milien is being held at the City of Norfolk jail without bond, and his court date in Southampton County General District Court is currently pending.
