Man seriously hurt in Hampton shooting

Police believe the suspect shot the victim following a fight inside a home. The suspect then fled the scene.

HAMPTON, Va. — A man was seriously hurt after he was shot in Hampton on Friday, police said.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Old Buckroe Road, at the intersection with Harwood Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. According to the Hampton Police Division, the victim, a 26-year-old Norfolk man, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said that based on a preliminary investigation, the suspect and victim were inside a home when a fight broke out, resulting in the suspect shooting the victim. The suspect then fled the scene.

The Hampton Police Division has not publicly identified the suspect at this time.
