HPD officers responded to a reported shooting shortly after noon on Clyde Street, just off Kecoughtan Road.

At the scene, officers found a 1-year-old shot. The baby was taken to a hospital but is expected to survive, police said.

HPD said another child accidentally shot the victim with an unsecured firearm. Police are investigating the circumstances around the shooting.

Neighbors say the street is infamous for police interactions.

"It's, it's been on and off thing for last couple months. Shootings, incidences, police being called out," a neighbor said.

Police used dogs to search yards and houses for evidence and clues. Barbara Harvey lives in the area and was shocked to find out what happened.

"It's kind of strange because, it's kind of quiet around here. Well, very quiet, I was just shocked and surprised," Harvey said.

Police used dogs to search yards and houses for evidence and clues. In light of everything, some neighbors say they're stepping up security and others are considering moving.

"I've been here since 97. We invested a lot in this house and we're ready to go," another neighbor said.
