Hampton police investigating shooting death near Coliseum Central

A man has died after a shooting incident on West Mercury Blvd.

HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton Police are investigating a shooting that ended in a man's death occurring on West Mercury Boulevard earlier this afternoon. 

At approximately 4:23 p.m., Hampton Public Safety Communications received a call related to a "disturbance" between two individuals in a parking lot in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard.

After arriving on the scene, officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. After Hampton Fire and Rescue arrived, they pronounced the man deceased.

As the investigation is ongoing by members of the HPD's Major Crimes Unit, more details will become available as 13News Now receives them.

This is the fifth homicide in the area over the past 2 years.
