Four arrests made in Dare County thefts

DARE COUNTY, N.C. — Four people have been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in Dare County after an investigation into a breaking and entering that happened earlier this month.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office said the stolen property – boating items worth about $10,000 – has also been recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

The breaking and entering happened at the Dare Storage Unit in Skyco, N.C., on Aug. 8, the sheriff’s office stated in a press release.

Barney E. Midgette, 56, and Jeremey L. Gabbard, 48, have been charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.

Raymond V. Thomas, 44, and Amanda J. Wells, 37, have been charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen property.

All of the arrestees are Wanchese residents and have been issued secured bonds.
