VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Former Virginia Beach police officer Kyle LaLonde is expected in court Wednesday, as he faces several charges related to child sex crimes.

On March 6, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) confirmed that 31-year-old LaLonde was arrested and charged with the following crimes:

  • Attempted indecent liberties with a child less than 15 years of age
  • Attempt indecent liberties
  • Entice a minor to perform in child pornography
  • Propose sex act by communication system with a child less than 15 years of age
  • Solicitation to commit a felony
  • Possession of child pornography

On Wednesday, he will appear in Virginia Beach Circuit Court for a plea hearing related to the charges. VBPD is expected to release a statement following the hearing.

According to the court documents, most of the alleged crimes date back to September and October of 2023. LaLonde allegedly inappropriately touched a girl under the age of 15 and tried to entice a minor to perform in child pornography. The documents also go on to say LaLonde possessed child pornography just a month before he was charged.

LaLonde was "relieved of his police powers" back in March, but did not officially resign from VBPD until Aug. 22. He worked for the department for three years, according to court documents. A VBPD spokesperson said LaLonde served as a patrol officer while on the force.
