HAMPTON, Va. — The Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office (IOWCSO) arrested Steven M. Whitten on Friday, Dec. 13 on eight felony counts of possessing, reproducing, distributing, soliciting and facilitating child pornography.
Deputies with IOWCSO's Digital Forensics Unit traced the 66-year-old Hampton man to an IP address that involved an individual advertising child sexual abuse material.
After conducting a search warrant at Whitten's home, deputies said they located and confiscated multiple devices containing child sexual abuse material.
Whitten is currently being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on no bond.
This was the second, although unrelated, felony child porn arrest by the IOWCSO in the last two days. Deputies arrested an Isle of Wight Academy teacher, Zachary Hinz, on three felony child porn charges.
