Alleged shooter struck by vehicle, injured in Suffolk

The incident unfolded just after noon on Lee Street near West Washington Street.

SUFFOLK, Va. — An investigation is underway after authorities say a man who opened fire was struck by a vehicle he shot at in Suffolk just after noon Tuesday.

The Suffolk Police Department said a man, who has not been publicly identified, shot at a vehicle carrying three men on Lee Street near West Washington Street at 12:06 p.m. The driver in turn struck the alleged shooter with his vehicle, wounding the man.

Medics brought the alleged shooter to a hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive.

The vehicle got away but was later pulled over at West Constance Road and West Washington Street. The three men inside were not injured, police say.

Police have not said if the involved individuals knew each other or what sparked the initial shooting.
