PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A convicted felon in Portsmouth was sentenced to five years behind bars on gun-related charges, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Tuesday.
Michael Scott, 40, was among a number of individuals being investigated in connection to distributing narcotics, the DOJ said.
As part of a "lengthy investigation," law enforcement searched Scott's home where officials discovered three firearms, magazines, ammunition and about six ounces of marijuana, items used to manufacture and distribute drugs, and nearly $3,000 in cash.
One of the firearms recovered featured a machinegun conversion device at the rear of the slide, officials said.
Scott has several previous felony convictions, including gun-related and robbery charges.
