Convicted felon arrested in connection to Norfolk shooting, police say

Following the shooting, police say the victim went to a nearby business seeking help.

NORFOLK, Va. — A man who had been convicted of a felony is once again behind bars after he allegedly shot and injured a man in Norfolk Saturday night.

Anthony Griffin is accused of shooting a 33-year-old man, who has not been publicly identified, in the vicinity of Alexander Street and Pall Mall Street, the Norfolk Police Department said.

At around 9:20 p.m., Norfolk police were called to the Chanello's store on Chesapeake Boulevard where the gunshot victim had gone seeking help, authorities said. The 33-year-old was brought to a hospital for treatment of wounds determined to not be life-threatening.

Griffin was later arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police said detectives have not yet released a motive or other details about the incident.
