CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A Chesapeake man will spend two decades behind bars for 30 counts of child pornography-related charges, according to the city's Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney.
In a release on Monday, the Commonwealth said 54-year-old Terry Bull had 115 years of his 135-year sentence suspended, leaving an active sentence of 20 years. The Chesapeake man was convicted of 15 counts of child pornography 1st offense and 15 counts of child pornography 2nd or subsequent offense.
Authorities were tipped off to Bull's crimes thanks to a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alert.
Using a Yahoo account, officials say Bull downloaded child sexual abuse material and child erotica. During a search of Bull's home, the Commonwealth says more than 20,000 images, mostly of young girls nude, were uncovered on his electronic devices.
Bull subsequently told police he had been collecting the images for over 20 years, according to the Commonwealth.
The Chesapeake Police Department Special Victims Unit led the investigation.
