Chesapeake hit and run suspect in custody

After a hit and run crash just after 11:15 a.m. on Friday, Chesapeake police have arrested a suspect.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake police responded to North Battlefield Boulevard near Woodlake Drive a little after 11:15 a.m. on Friday morning for a crash involving two vehicles. 

One of the vehicles left the scene before authorities arrived, Chesapeake police said. The driver that stayed on scene was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers eventually found the vehicle and driver that had left the scene, and the driver was arrested. 

Traffic lanes were originally blocked during the incident but have now opened back up. The incident is still an active investigation, according to police.
