NORFOLK, Va. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Norfolk seized fentanyl powder, after discovering it while inspecting cars.
On November 8, officers found a white powdery substance with three cars that were set to be shipped from Maryland to Sierra Leone. They tested the substance and identified it as "fentanyl hydrochloride." It weighed a little more than four ounces.
Officials said just two milligrams of the powerful synthetic opioid could be a lethal dose.
CBP says an investigation into the fentanyl remains ongoing.
