PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of a 23-year-old woman in 2022, the Portsmouth Office of Commonwealth's Attorney announced Wednesday.
Following a two-day trial, Brandon Jones was convicted in Toni Goddard's death on June 8, 2022.
Prosecutors claim the two were fighting at Jones' home when Goddard threw a porcelain statue and grabbed a pair of scissors. Jones snatched the scissors from Goddard's hand and then used them to stab her multiple times, killing her, prosecutors said
Jones removed Goddard's body from his home and dumped it in the vicinity of Campostella Road and Interstate 64 in Norfolk.
Jones is set to be sentenced on Feb. 14, 2024. He could face up to 10 years in prison.
