VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Two people are facing charges following a weekend shooting in Virginia Beach, police said.
According to the Virginia Beach Police Department, the shooting was reported shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, in the 3900 block of Bonney Road.
Officers arrived to find a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
A man and a woman were located and taken into custody in connection to the shooting. Police say 27-year-old Zakaria Horton is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting into an occupied vehicle, shooting in city limits resulting in injury and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit.
37-year-old Verlandon Smith was also arrested and charged with a separate firearm violation, and felon in possession of a firearm.
