Woman arrested after 'barricade situation' on Leander Drive in Norfolk

Renee Pierce, 58, was charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied building.

NORFOLK, Va. — UPDATE: A woman was arrested after a barricade situation in the Barberton area of Norfolk ended peacefully Thursday morning, police said.

The Norfolk Police Department said officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of Leander Drive around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman who barricaded herself in a home with a weapon.

According to police, officers tried to contact the woman but weren't successful.

After nearly eight hours, the suspect, Renee Pierce, 58, walked out of the home and was taken into custody. No one was hurt.

Pierce was charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied building. She is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
