NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Newport News police are still looking for suspects in that city's latest murder. 33-year-old Damian Terry died after he was shot Wednesday night.
Terry was reportedly walking down Madison Avenue near 30th Street when a dark colored car drove by and someone began shooting in his direction. He died at the hospital.
"My brother didn't do nothing. My brother didn't do ruckus," said Kerry Davis, trying to understand who would want his brother dead. He said his brother mentored young people in the community and had worked as a camp counselor. He was reportedly employed at Smithfield Packing.
Marcus Smith said he and Terry had been good friends since childhood. He said Terry was the type of guy who tried to avoid adversity.
"I can't think of nothing that he would do that would bring this on him. Not out here in the street, not like this."
