Shooting near restaurant hospitalizes 3 in Accomack County

While deputies responded to the scene where two gunshot victims were, the Sheriff's Office says a third victim arrived at a local hospital.

ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. — A shooting near Billies Shisha Lounge and Restaurant sent three people to the hospital over Memorial Day weekend, according to the Accomack County Sheriff's Office (ACSO).

In a release on Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the restaurant located on Lankford Highway shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Among a large crowd, deputies found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. 

One man was rushed to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital via ambulance before being transferred to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Hospital, then to the University of Maryland Medical Hospital where authorities say he's in stable condition.

The second victim was airlifted to the University of Maryland Medical Hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to the Sheriff's Office.

While deputies were at the scene, they were alerted to a third man who claimed he was injured in the same shooting and had arrived at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. He has since been released.

No suspect information or details surrounding what led up to the shooting was immediately released. 

The investigation is ongoing. The ACSO urges anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information related to it to call 757-787-1131 or leave a tip online on the Sheriff's Office's website.
