SMITHFIELD, Va. — One person was injured in a shooting incident in Smithfield on Tuesday afternoon.
The Smithfield Police Department was called to Wrenn Road just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
When they arrived, they located one victim who had been shot in the arm. An officer applied a tourniquet to the victim who was then transported to a hospital for further medical care. They were later released from the hospital after being treated.
After multiple search warrants were executed, and with the assistance of the Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office, the suspect was detained.
19-year-old Elriana Hill of Smithfield was charged with the following 22 offenses:
- 1 count of Aggravated Malicious Wounding
- 4 counts of Attempted Malicious Wounding
- 5 counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
- 6 counts of Shooting within 1,000 Feet of a School
- 1 count of Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle
- 1 count of Shooting into an Occupied Building
- 4 counts of Misdemeanor Destruction of Property
She is currently being held without bond.
