HAMPTON, Va. — A 15-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting in Hampton Thursday afternoon, police said.
The shooting happened in the 1st block of Green Street, which is close to the area of North King Street and Mercury Boulevard.
Investigators believe the victim was in the 1st block of Green Street when an unknown vehicle approached and the occupant(s) started shooting at him, according to the Hampton Police Division.
The boy went to Sentara Careplex to be treated and Hampton police responded shortly after 3:50 p.m. Thursday. He was initially treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening, but his status has been upgraded to life-threatening.
The Hampton Police Division said the motive and circumstances of the shooting are being investigated and there is no suspect information to share right now.
