UPDATE 10:30 AM WEDNESDAY- The driver of the box truck who died on scene has been identified as 56-year-old Abbes Saddam of Virginia Beach. Police are still investigating the crash and no decision has been made yet on whether charges will be filed.

VIRGINIA BEACH- A midday afternoon collision in Virginia Beach between two trucks leaves one man dead. It happened Tuesday afternoon on the 1500 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. Authorities tell 13 News Now two trucks, one a box truck, the other, a soda truck, were heading westbound when one of the trucks left the roadway. Police say the driver of the box truck died on the scene, he was 56-year old Abbes Saddam of Virginia Beach. The driver of the soda truck was not injured.
Traffic around the accident was re-routed for hours and some nearby residents were without power because one of the trucks hit a utility pole. Jimmy Cason of Virginia Beach Police explained why police took several hours to clear the scene, 'Measurements that need to be taken by accident investigators to determine exactly how this happened everything from how fast the vehicle was going to the position of the vehicle when it left the roadway', Cason says.
Power was out for nearly 200 nearby customers, but it has since been restored.
