NORFOLK, Va. — It’s that time of year again! Shaggy with Z104 is back with his annual ‘Stuff the Bus,’ event.
The toy drive will be accepting unwrapped toys for families in need across Hampton Roads.
Shaggy the radio host from z104 is working with the U.S. Marine Corps reserves to stuff as many school buses with toys.
He says every toy donated will then be given to the Marine Corps ‘Toys for Tots’ program.
This year’s toy drive kicked off Monday morning in Hampton and will make stops at different Walmart locations across Hampton roads Monday through Friday.
“I just love the fact that every single toy that's dropped off; a family living right here we'll get that toy,” Shaggy said. “No parent should have to look at a child and say, Santa was too busy, or Santa must have forgotten us this year, and as a parent myself, it would break my heart."
“It makes me feel so good knowing that there's so many families that we help take a burden off and just maybe just give them a little, you know, fresh air, a little breath.”
Virginia Beach Public Schools also donated buses for this event, and Shaggy hopes to fill at least 25 by the end of the week.
The radio personality is encouraging people to bring anything that will brighten a child’s holiday, from board games and Barbies to footballs and bicycles.
“All I'm asking you is there's about 1.6 million people that live in Hampton Roads,” Shaggy explained. “If every single person just bought one toy, one toy, one Barbie doll, think about the impact they could do just one.“
The toy drive continues tomorrow in Virginia Beach, then Yorktown, Norfolk and the Virginia Beach Town Center.
