VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Kimberly Powell believes change starts with the youth.
"The problem I've identified within the community is the lack of resources," said Powell, who co-founded a nonprofit "757 We Care" to empower kids and teens in the community.
The nonprofit pairs kids ages 8-17 with role models to help them reach success in life.
On Friday night, they'll be performing "Shine Bright: Embracing You!", which "delves into the challenges faced by our youth, emphasizing the importance of self-love, confidence, and embracing one's uniqueness." Youth actors will take center stage in the performance.
The performance will be held Friday, March 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Hive Business Resource Center, located at 140 Independence Boulevard in Virginia Beach.
Tickets are $5 to $10. More information about the show and to buy tickets can be found on its Eventbrite website.
