VIRGINIA BEACH -- Nine Chinese students are getting a tour of Virginia Beach thanks to a recent grant from the Confucius Classroom Network and the Global Studies and World Language Academy at Tallwood High School.
They come from Harbin, known as Ice City in the Northeast part of China. Last year the coordinator of the Global Studies and World Languages Academy at Tallwood paid a visit to their school known as Chambridge Number Three.
'The Chinese students will get better at English and our Chinese language students will get better with Chinese,' said Rebecca Gurley, academy coordinator.
This day was all about dancing as the Chinese students demonstarted traditional Asian dance. They even taught Tallwood students a step or two, and then the Tallwood students encouraged the Chinese students to 'bust a move' with them.
'They'll see the difference between western culture and Chinese culture and she thinks the difference will benefit their life,' said Chinese school principal Chang Cua Ping.
A group of Tallwood students will travel to China next year.
