CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- A Chesapeake man won $1 million after taxes through the Virginia Lottery.

On May 20, Andy Phan was online checking the winning numbers from Saturday night's Bank a Million drawing. He matched all six numbers and won $1 million dollars.

“I wasn’t sure if it was for real,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Kroger located at 1653 Sentinel Drive in Chesapeake. The Kroger store received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Phan's ticket matched all six numbers in the May 19 drawing. The winning numbers were 2-12-14-26-29-30. The Bonus Ball number was 13, which he didn’t need to win the top prize.

He used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly select his numbers.

Phan has no immediate plans for his winnings except to pay bills and take care of his family.

The top prize in Bank a Million is calculated so that winners actually receive the prize amount after state and federal tax withholdings. Bank a Million drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 p.m. Bank a Million is played exclusively in Virginia.
