An Accomack County deputy has been terminated from his job as an animal control officer after he was arrested on charges related to a domestic assault.
Billy Davis III was employed by the Accomack County Sheriff's Office for five years, according to court documents.
Accomack County Sheriff Todd Godwin said Davis was terminated from his job immediately after his arrest.
Davis was arrested in the early morning hours Aug. 2 and charged with abduction, malicious wounding and assault and battery of a household member, after an argument with his girlfriend escalated and became physical.
State police were dispatched around 9:24 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1 to the scene of a domestic dispute on Lilliston Avenue in Accomac.
When the officer arrived, he removed a woman from the scene and found Davis barricaded on the top floor, according to the arresting officer's report.
Davis eventually emerged from the residence and the officer placed him under arrest.
"He admitted to pushing her down and busted (the woman's) chin," the report said.
The woman, who was identified in court documents as a state trooper, said she was moving her belongings out of the residence when Davis came home and an argument ensued, according to the report.
At one point, when she was on the second floor retrieving items, Davis "kicked her almost down the stairs," the report said.
When the woman went to get into her car to leave, Davis reportedly pushed her into the car and she struck her chin on the vehicle and was knocked out, according to the document.
Davis was taken to the Virginia Beach City Jail, where he was incarcerated, and was released on bond Aug. 11.
Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney Collin Stolle was appointed special prosecutor in the case, according to an order entered into Accomack County Circuit Court on Aug. 5.
A preliminary hearing in Accomack County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
