NORFOLK Much of the property of the old Ford plant in Norfolk has been sold.
The plant, which built the F-150 truck, closed in June 2007, putting about 2,400 people out of work.
The site was renamed the Virginia Renaissance Center when it was sold by Ford Motor Company to The Jacoby Group in March 2001.
Now, much of the property has been sold for $4.1 million to The Schaubach Companies, CBRE|Hampton Roads announced Tuesday.
Three of five parcels at the intersection of East Indian River Road and Ford Drive were sold in the deal. Parcel 1 is 10.88 acres and includes an almost 30,000 SF building with multiple grade-level doors. Parcel 2 is 4.31 acres and parcel 3 is 2.66 acres and each is approximately 50 acres and has access to a 400' concrete pier as well as Norfolk Southern rail service.
There was no immediate work onSchaubach Companies' plans for the property.
