WILLIAMSBURG -- Investigators are working to determine what caused fire at a Williamsburg apartment complex.
Crews were called to Parkway Apartments around 6:45 a.m.
People at the scene reported hearing explosions, so the ATF and FBIhave joined the investigation.
'It shook the building and we were on the top floor and it shook our walls,' said Jennifer Zeman. 'It was really terrifying. Istill don't know if our animals are alive.'
'Myfirst instinct was I thought it was an earthquake. It felt like the ground was rumbling,'added Michael Gray.
Damage was contained to building #410, one of two buildings in the complex, said fire department spokesman Eric Stone.
25 people have been displaced. Three people were taken to the hospital for observation; a fourthperson washospitalized with second and third-degree burns.
The Williamsburg fire marshals are working with James City County and York County fire marshal office and the City of Williamsburg Police Dept. are alsoworking determine where the fire started and why.
'It looks like it generated in the basement, but they're not sure yet, still removing stuff to determine exactly where the fire itself generated and the explosion generated,'said spokesman EricStone.
