VIRGINIA, USA — Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) is sharing a variety of bill payment assistance programs for customers as colder temperatures loom. Dropping temperatures mean energy consumption will be on the rise, but that doesn't mean pressure on your budget needs to increase too.
The natural gas company is providing customers with easy access to different payment assistance programs for eligible customers and promoting energy efficiency in all households.
From now until November 10th, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is open for enrollment. Eligible families and individuals can apply through local Social Services. For more information, visit the Department of Social Services website.
The EnergyShare program is administered by the Salvation Army to income-eligible households including seniors and veterans. Interested customers are asked to call their local Salvation Army to make an appointment to apply.
Crisis assistance is available year-round for emergency situations to help eligible households when fuel assistance and other resources do not meet their needs. This resource is available through the Department of Social Services.
Deferred payment arrangements are available for customers with a past due balance to avoid disconnection of their services. This program is intended for customers who do not qualify for energy assistance, or are seeking assistance funding but are not yet in the program.
211 Virginia connects individuals or families in need to community resources like emergency shelter, food, clothing, or financial assistance. Customers can dial 211 or visit the website.
In addition to bill payment assistance programs, VNG offers free tools and resources through its Energy Efficiency program to help customers save energy and money. Customers are encouraged to visit the VNG website to take the online home energy audit and request a free energy-saving kit.
