Who tested it? Senior gardener and Garden of Lights designer at Norfolk Botanical Garden Linda Saunders
What are the Instructions? There are two methods to repair your light.
First is the Quick Fix Trigger. It repairs the most common cause of light set failures, internal bulb failure. First thing you need to do is remove any unlit bulb from the light string section that is not lit. Then plug the light string bulb socket fully into the Lightkeeper Pro Socket Connector. The metal contacts of the bulb socket should line up with the metal contacts of the Lightkeeper Pro Socket Connector.
Once that is done, make sure your light string is plugged into a power source. Then pull the trigger of the Lightkeeper Pro until the lights turn on. If the lights don't turn on after 20 pulls you need to try the AC Plug Connector.
If no lights are lit, plug the defective light set into Lightkeeper Pro Plug Connector. Pull the trigger 20 times to repair any bulb shunts needing repair. Now plug the set into the AC outlet and it should light up.
For other problems you may need to use the Audible Voltage Detector. It helps locate Circuit interruptions caused by loose bulbs, twisted wires and other types of problems.
Plug the defective light set into the AC outlet. Hold down the black button on top of the Lightkeeper Pro to activate the Voltage Detector. The red LED light will light and the detector may 'Chirp' indicating the detector is on.
Place the tip of the Lightkeeper Pro against the first bulb closest to the plug and outlet. If a continuous beeping is heard, scan the unlit section of the light set starting at the first bulb closest to the plug.
Put the tip of the Lightkeeper Pro between bulb one and two and establish a distance from the wires where a continuous beeping can be heard. Maintain that distance, scanning the length of the unlit section until the detector stops beeping. The bulb and socket between where the detector beeps and doesn't is the source of the problem. Remove, inspect and test the indicated bulb, replace if necessary.
All the lights should now light.
The Lightkeeper Pro also has a bulb and fuse tester, plus a bulb puller It also comes ready to use with three alkaline 1.5 Volt Batteries that are easy to replace when needed.
Did it work? Our tester was so surprised. She admitted to being a little skeptical at first, but once she used the quick fix trigger on her broken strand of lights then saw it light up she was a believer. She said the Lightkeeper Pro was easy to use but warns you need to make sure you read the instructions carefully before you begin.
