Youngkin makes job growth announcement at Bauer Compressors in Norfolk

Dozens of jobs and millions of dollars of capital investment are coming to Norfolk, Gov. Glenn Youngkin told a crowd Wednesday afternoon.

NORFOLK, Va. — A manufacturing and tech company in Norfolk is adding 47 new jobs and committing a $7.4 million investment.

That was the announcement Wednesday from Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-Virginia) at Bauer Compressions, Inc. in Norfolk Industrial Park.

Tony Bayat, president of Bauer Compressions Inc., said this is their 12th expansion since opening in the Mermaid City in the 1970s.

The global company has German roots. It is known for designing and making high-pressure air compressors.

"These compressors go everywhere. They're used in industries not just around the United States, but around the world. They serve everyone from our firefighting heroes, to our defense industry, to the medical industry, the energy industry," Youngkin said.

The governor made his remarks in front of the workforce. Bauer already employs 250 people in Norfolk.

"It is the number one in their field around the world. To have them commit more capital, to hire more people in Norfolk, Virginia. It's really exciting," Youngkin told reporters.

The announcement Wednesday was also born from a partnership with Virginia Economic Development Partnership
