SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. — Wesley Hadsell’s hearing for allegedly possessing and distributing drugs on Tuesday was continued until June 25th.
According to court documents, Hadsell gave an inmate a strip of suboxone, which the inmate then turned over to jail staff. Documents show that inmate also made a written statement about the incident.
Suboxone is an opioid classified as a schedule 3 drug. The drug is usually used by individuals who are dependent on or addicted to opioids. Suboxone should be used as part of a complete treatment plan to include counseling and psychosocial support.
Court documents also said deputies searched Hadsell’s cell block, and they found a piece of tissue wrapped in cellophane in a sock Hadsell was wearing. Deputies said that sock held six more suboxone strips inside.
Hadsell is currently serving a 10-year sentence for possession of ammunition.
In February, Hadsell pleaded not guilty to murdering his stepdaughter A.J. Hadsell and a motions hearing has been set for May 21st.
