VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Throughout the year, the Hope for Life Rescue in Virginia Beach transforms the lives of dogs and cats in tough situations. They take in animals in the most need and help them recover and find their forever homes.
"Most of the time, every animal we take in has to see the vet right away," said Assistant Director Martha Wilkins. "Because we take in such difficult cases, a lot of neglected and abused animals."
One such case was Levi, a puppy Hope For Life took in that was part of an animal cruelty case.
Levi had been starved and abused. He still bears the scars, particularly on his face where he had his snout taped shut.
Fortunately, Levi did not lose faith in humans despite the cruelty he faced and was able to overcome everything that happened to him.
Hope For Life said that while Levi recovered in a foster home, he caught the eye of a wonderful family who eventually took him on a home visit and eventually adopted him.
13News Now and Espirit Decor Home Furnishings are partnering in March for "Paws for Charity" and raise donations for Hope for Life Rescue. Our goal is to raise $25,000 between March 11 and 20. Here’s where you can donate!
You can also donate by visiting the shelter during operating hours. They're located at 610 Jack Rabbit Road, Suite 3 in Virginia Beach.
There are other ways to help Hope for Life, too: you can volunteer at the shelter, foster animals or host a puppy sleepover, help transport animals, or you can buy items off their Chewy wish list.
