NORFOLK, Va. — The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command and surrounding Salvation Army Corps is opening registration for its Angel Tree Program, starting in September.
Angel Tree is The Salvation Army's holiday assistance program that provides Christmas gifts to thousands of children and families in need across Hampton Roads and its neighboring communities.
"At Christmas, when the world is wrapped in the warmth of festive cheer, there is a special call to remember the children who may not have the luxury of a joyful holiday season," the organization states in a press release announcing the Angel Tree program registration.
The Salvation Army calls the program "a crucial initiative" aimed at ensuring children in need get a chance to enjoy the holidays and have a present to open on Christmas morning.
