NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Operation Homefront is bringing holiday cheer to military families across Hampton Roads. On Friday, the national nonprofit distributed essential grocery items and gift cards for a holiday meal to 150 families as part of their "Holiday Meals for Military" event.
Operation Homefront hopes to provide meals for more than 14,000 military families through over 100 events across the country.
According to the nonprofit, the program offers junior and mid-grade enlisted families with grocery items necessary to prepare a traditional holiday meal.
Many military members are far from family on the holidays, so helping ease the financial burden might make the holiday season a little bit brighter for the men and women serving our country.
